Father Salvatore Scorza is the founder of both the male (priestly) and female branches of the Apostles of the Interior Life. He was born in Zagarise in the Calabria region of Italy on December 9th, 1926. Even as a young seminarian he recognized the urgent need to help people to know the Truth that sets man free (cf. Jn 8:32) in order to receive a holistic human and spiritual formation.

He was ordained a priest for the diocese of Rome on March 29th, 1952 and dedicated much of his ministry to spiritual direction and to the "New Evangelization".

In 1978 he received permission to spend two years abroad in the U.S. for a pastoral experience. During this time in California he met a college student named Susan Pieper: that meeting marked the beginning of a providential adventure that led Fr. Salvatore to found the female branch of the Apostles of the Interior Life.

Some years later, young men began expressing the desire to dedicate themselves to a lifestyle conformed to the charism, and thus began the priestly branch of the Apostles of the Interior Life, formally founded on Holy Thursday 2007.
